Dive Number: 514 17/11/2013 Middle Arch, Poor Knights, New Zealand

Conditions: Ideal

Visibilty: 20m

Water Temp: ??c

Bottom Time: 50minutes

Max Depth: 15m

Details: The Poor Knights has so much to offer that we had to do a second trip..especially with conditions like they were. This time around we were promised some of the more iconic dive sites…starting with Middle Arch. This site has a smaller cave off to the side of the main arch where you can breach the surface into an air pocket. Very cool to be able to take your regs out and have a little chat in the middle of the dive. Of course, i couldn’t capture the experience in photos..its just gotta be done. The main arch was very atmospheric too with large schools of fish, and morays and scorpionfish amongst the boulders. Truly a world class dive.

Dive Number: 513 16/11/2013 Meditation Wall, Poor Knights, New Zealand

Conditions: Ideal

Visibilty: 20m

Water Temp: ??c

Bottom Time: 50minutes

Max Depth: 18m

Details: Fairly similar to the 1st dive…not the big structure i was expecting, but still great diving. The skipper took me out to the point where there were lots of fish. Hanging precariously over deep blue water felt a little exposed, but it gave the sheltered nature of the main dive site a new element. All in all, it was a fantastic day out with a tour of the islands, dolphins and sun fish on the way out and even a whale (un-ID’d). Highly recommended charter – Dive Tutukaka.

Dive Number: 512 16/11/2013 The Nursery, Poor Knights, New Zealand

Conditions: Ideal

Visibilty: 20m

Water Temp: ??c

Bottom Time: 50minutes

Max Depth: 18m

Details: We struck it lucky with conditions, and our trip out the Poor Knights with Dive Tutakaka looked promising. Our first dive was at The Nursery. A shallowish site that didnt offer the structure that the Poor Knights promised, but it was a nice introduction with a largish OW/tourist-type group. There was still some nice swim throughs and some nice marine life around.

Conditions: ?

Visibilty: 10m

Water Temp: ??c

Bottom Time: 40minutes

Details: On tour up through the South Island of New Zealand, we stopped off at Pelorus River. The water was reasonably warm and the water clear so the camera had to come out of the backpack and get its first taste of New Zealand waters.
