Details: After a housing leak last time i dived here, i was a bit more cautious with my setup on this dive. Lots of these strange clawed polyceate worms living in their sand tubes in the sand. The diversity in the colours of the seastars was incredible, so i tried to photograph as many as i could..including two different colour morphs mating. Only a couple of species of nudibranch which was a bit dissappointing.

Details: Point Kirk is a place i’ve always been curious to dive, but i’ve never made the effort. I had to pick my parents up from Avalon Airport so i thought it was a good opportunity to have a quick dive while i was waiting. It turned out to be a mistake…i rushed the dive and had a small leak in the housing. I didn’t think it was serious, but water worked its way into the battery compartment of the camera and killed it. Insurance to the rescue though.

Anyway, it was an interesting area and id like to return. Very shallow however, and probably only worth a snorkel. It might be a better boat dive (or at least long swim to depth). Lots of stars around, but no nudi’s to be seen. I’ll have another crack here when i have more time.
