Details: During a weekend getaway down at Apollo Bay, we did the tourist thing and continued down the Great Ocean road to the 12 Apostles, London Bridge etc. I’d read about the great shore diving down at Peterborough, and although conditions weren’t ideal, the seas were flat enough to make a couple of exploratory dives. After checking out a few spots that looked a little too hairy, i decided on checking out Boat Bay. It was nice and protected, but the downfall of that, was it was also very shallow. I didn’t venture out past the small island in the bay, but i’m guessing it may drop off into deeper water outside the bay. Anyway, it was still an interesting dive, with very lush vegetation. A green algae was growing profusely..a species i’d never seen further east..not in these quanities and porportions anyway. There wasn’t a lot of fish life around though..possibly not the right time of year. A nice dive i’d like to explore more of.
